Richard Murphy
Director of Field Operations
Richard brings over 35 years of experience in heavy civil construction, specializing in excavation, roadwork, and rail projects. As Director of Field Operations at MDR Contracting, he leads field teams, manages large-scale site development, and ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with engineering specifications and regulatory standards.
Known for his strong work ethic, deep field knowledge, and a well-established network across the industry, Richard has built trusted relationships with engineers, inspectors, and clients to ensure every project meets the highest standards of safety and quality.
Originally from Frenchburg, Kentucky, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife, kids and a host of grandkids and being outdoors, especially when it involves a good sunrise on a job site!
Jimmie “Keith” Vance
Paving Operations Manager
Keith brings over 45 years of experience in asphalt paving and roadway construction, having worked on everything from city streets and subdivisions to major highways across Kentucky. For most of his career, Keith worked under the late industry leader Leonard Lawson, where he developed a deep foundation in large-scale paving operations and leadership.
As Paving Operations Manager at MDR Contracting, Keith now leads paving crews, supervises resurfacing projects, and ensures each job is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards
After retiring in 2023, Keith recently decided to return to the field, bringing his unmatched knowledge, steady leadership, and strong work ethic back to the pavement where he feels most at home.
Outside of work, Keith values time with his wife, kids and grandkids, and can often be found tending to his miniature horses, a passion he’s enjoyed for many years!
